SESSION: Student Showcase: Nebo Elementary Robotics Club - We make Technology Come Alive!
Christopher Michaud, Paulding County Public Schools
Table 1 Wednesday 8:30 - 3:30PM Capacity: 8
Description: The Nebo Elementary Fine Arts Robotics team combines the concepts of computer science with the principals of engineering in creating robots to perform simple tasks such as navigating a maze, moving and placing objects, and retrieving objects. The Nebo Robotics Team will also compete in the First Lego League Robotics competition this year. During the student showcase, Nebo Elementary Students will demonstrate their robots and programs they created using Lego Mindstorms NXT kit and Mindstorms programming language. Through the designing of mechanical robots students learn how to apply the concepts of simple machines, sequence, and input/output in a real world situation. Through writing programs for robots, students move out of the virtual world and into the real world as they must create, and troubleshoot code to direct their machines to complete missions.
